South African convicted rapist Nicholas Ninow has been sentenced to life behind bars for raping a seven-year-old girl.
The 21-year-old was caught naked and with the child in the female toilets of a popular Pretoria restaurant in September 2018.
Thunderous applause erupted at the Pretoria High Court as Nicholas Ninow was sentenced to life behind bars – he also received a further 10 years for defeating the ends of justice and drug abuse.
Judge Mosopa said the rapist had showed no remorse for his actions. His name will also be entered into the register of sexual offenders which means he cannot be allowed to work in any environment that involves children in the future.
In a bid to get a lenient sentence, Ninow detailed his history of drug use and apologised to his victim and her family.
On Wednesday, he read out a poem he wrote for his seven-year-old victim.
Ninow also admitted he had been on a three-day drug binge and that he didn’t care about the consequences of his actions at the time of the attack and admitted to flushing his victim’s underwear down the toilet to get rid of evidence.
The National Prosecuting Authority praised both the investigating officer and the state prosecutor for working diligently on the case.

Drama in the House as Obasa Drags Lagos Assembly, Meranda To Court Over Removal.

The former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has filed a suit against the Assembly and the new Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, before the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, challenging the legality of his sack.
